An hour's drive north from the sunny Gold Coast will take you to Brisbane, Queensland's capital city, where you can shop - tilL you drop in the world-class Queensland designer's boutiques, climb the Story Bridge, lounge in the trendy cafes or relax by the river in one of the many parks with city views.
Otherwise, head south to the Queensland-New South Wales border where you'll find Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. Take in a show at the iconic Twin Towns Services Club or be swept away by the historical and picturesque beauty of the area and Mt Warning National Park. Further down the new Tweed Coast are quaint beachside neighbourhoods with stories to tell.
If you head west you'll wind up at one of Australia's most biologically diverse regions - Mt Tamborine and the Gold Coast hinterland - where there is a multitude of different things to do. Fresh produce stands by the side of the road are delightful; there's plenty of art to keep enthusiasts entertained; or visit wine makers, cheese makers, mushroom farmers and host of other produce growers.
And to the east - the wide blue yonder. Take a fishing expedition, charter a boat, dive our amazing waters or relax on the beach.
